inu_17663.jpegInformation Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Friday said there is no one in the 10th national parliament who supports militancy. “The present parliament formed following the January 5 general election is free from the backers of militancy. You won’t find any MP who belongs to any militant group or supports militancy and communalism,” he told a discussion at the central office of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal in the city. Speaking as the chief guest, Inu said the challenge of the new government is to build a country free from militancy. Turning to workers’ rights, the minister said, “There’s law to ensure the rights of labourers, but it is hardly practiced. I hope that the present government will enforce the act to ensure the welfare of workers.” The Information Minister also stressed the need for enacting new law to better ensure the rights of workers. He urged the workers to raise their voice and submit their written statements to the Speaker of parliament to press home their demands. The discussion meeting, organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Sramik Jote, put forward a set of demands, including formation of trade union in every industry and factory, providing labourer ID card and introducing rationing system for workers, according to a news agency.
