ICALDRC Linguistics Unit of Dhaka University conferred “International Creative Arts Award 2024” to Dr. Md. Jobaer Alam for his unique contribution in Teaching & Journalism  development. Discussion on “Impact of Language & Literature on Enriching Minds and Inspiring Lives & The International Creative Arts Award-2024 Giving Ceremony” held at RC Majumdar Auditorium of Dhaka University on March 30. These medals and certificates of honor were awarded at the event.

Professor Dr. Soumitra Shekhar D.Litt, Vice-Chancellor of Jatiokobi  Kazi Nazrul Islam University   was the chief guest in the event, Professor Dr. Nasar U Ahmed (Fulbright scholar, US Public Diplomacy) Florida International University,  USA was the special guest. , artist Mujib Pardesi who received Lifetime Award was the guest of honor ,  writer Shamima Begum BPM, PPM, DIG Bangladesh Police,  Special Branch   and Secretary General of The International Creative Arts Language & Development Research Center (ICALDRC) Professor Lutfar Rahman Joy

The program was presided over by Professor Dr. Asaduzzaman, Chairman of Linguistics Department of Dhaka University. ICALDRC Linguistics Unit of Dhaka University has awarded this medal and award for creativity in various fields of research, literary publication, performing arts, education and cultural activities in recognition of their creatives contribution.
Dr. Md. Jobaer Alam born September 01, 1982 is the Chairman and Acting Editor of The Bangladesh Today, a national daily English newspaper in Bangladesh. He is also an Associate Professor and former Chairman of Department of Oceanography at Dhaka University. Born in Nilphamari, Bangladesh, Jobaer Alam is a graduate of Dhaka University, Vancouver Island University and Keller Graduate School of Management. He has obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree focusing on Blue Economy of the country. In early student life he was a community leader in various athletic and cultural student organizations.

He joined teaching positions in different institutions before joining Dhaka University as a lecturer in 2009. Jobaer Alam assumed his role as the Chairman and Acting Editor of The Bangladesh Today in January 2013 after joining the Department of Oceanography in Dhaka University as an Assistant Professor. Later in 2018, He assumed the position of chairman of the department for two consecutive terms.

In his teaching carrier Jobaer Alam introduced international educations styles of open discussions and creative problem solving. As the Chairman of The Bangladesh Today he focused in building a team that empowered the young generation and women through prioritized involvement as staff, contributor and readers.

With a moral support for pro-liberation ideologies Dr. Jobaer Alam performs his roles with integrity in his journalistic responsibilities and works for the development of the education sector of the country.
